Walking and cycling Gooi- en Vechtstreek
Hilversum - The Gooi and Vecht region is a wonderful area for walking, cycling or sailing - at any time of the year! Leafy forests, lakes, heather and meadows provide a varied landscape. The various outdoor areas are also beautiful. Grab your bike or put on your walking shoes and go out!
Cycling along the country houses of 's Graveland
Around the village of Graveland you will find a number of wonderful country estates and estates interspersed with beautiful stately forests and imposing avenues of beech and oak. One of the most famous country estates is the Trompenberg from the 17th century, the country residence of Admiral Cornelis Tromp. The Natuurmonumenten-Stiftung is located in another country estate, a little further away. Various walks and bike rides were offered in the surrounding forests.
De Zeven Bergjes
De Zeven Bergjes is a group of burial mounds on the heath between Hilversum and Laren. The hills date from the Bronze Age and are around 4000 years old. Urns, a dagger, an ax and a bell jar have been found in and around the hills.
Naarden Fortress
Naarden Vesting is a well-preserved fortified town that is definitely worth a visit. The special thing is that the defense was carried out twice, for example a double wall and a double channel belt. If you have time, you can take a stroll on the Vestingpad, a 3.5 km hiking and biking trail that runs around the fortress. Within the fortifications, the old town has a pleasant historical center with the Grote Kerk, many shops and a few cafes and cafes.
Laren and Blaricum
Laren is known for its chic shops and the Brink, where you can eat poffertjes in summer. Laren is often mentioned in the same breath as the adjacent blarium. In both villages you will find many large villas owned by well-known and less well-known Dutch people.
Loosdrechtse Plassen and the Vecht river
The lake area of ??Loosdrecht offers extensive recreational opportunities: take a nice bike ride around the lakes or discover one of the small dykes right through the water. You can swim by the water in some places. It is also nice to rent a sailing boat or a sloop and discover the lakes and the (country houses along the) Vecht. You can also take a wonderful walk around the Ankeveense plassen. Of course, you can walk through the beautiful nature in different places in winter. Recommended!
Voetstappenpad route
For hikers, the Voetstappenpad is a beautiful route of no less than 25 km around Hilversum. The route leads through the wide bogs, forests, estates and meadows around the media city.
End of Gooi
All good things come to an end. But Het Gooi has something extras for you: Einde Gooi (The End of the Gooi area). If you drive past Hilversum Airport from Loosdrecht, you will pass the Einde Gooi nature reserve. It is a beautiful forest on the border with Utrecht. So it's literally the end of the Gooi area here!
