Borkum vanaf het Nederlandse Rottumeroog
Borkum
A day trip to the German Wad
Borkum - Moin moin! It sounds cheerful when we disembark. The ferry has just docked in Borkum, the westernmost Wadden island in Germany. From the Eemshaven, north of Delfzijl in the Netherlands we made a wonderful boat trip on the Waddensea. The crossing from Eemshaven to Borkum takes only 50 minutes. Because the ferry runs several times a day in summer, the Wadden Island is an original destination for a day trip to Germany.
Your holiday starts as soon as you leave the harbour!
A day trip from the Netherlands to the German island Borkum is growing in popularity. It is not only fun to discover a new place, but since the train connection Groningen - Roodeschool - Eemshaven was established in 2018, a day trip to the German Wadden has become a lot easier. As mentioned, the crossing Eemshaven - Borkum takes about 50 minutes. And when the express service sails, the crossing takes only 25 minutes. But it doesn't really matter how long the boat trip takes. Your holiday starts as soon as you leave the harbour!
Alles hat ein Ende, nür die Würst hat zwei
When we are back on the mainland in the Eemshaven after a day at Borkum, we can only conclude with the German proverb
Alles hat ein Ende, nür die Würst hat zwei : everything has an end, only a sausage has two ... Everything comes to an end, unfortunately also this beautiful sun, sea and beach day.
