East of Heerenveen is a royal forest consisting of former estates with long avenues, water features and a few remaining country houses. The forest is interspersed with small meadows and water features. It is nice to walk in this royal environment. In the Museum Park you can visit Museum Belvédère, which lies like a diorama over the extended Grand Canal.
