Beachcombers house Vlieland
Vlieland
The most remote house in The Netherlands
Vlieland - The Vliehors resembles a massive desert. The remote area at the western end of Vlieland is flat and sandy and covers a large area of the Northsea island. The area is used as a military practice area by NATO and the Royal Dutch Airforce during weekdays. Therefore it's forbidden to access the area, except for the weekend (a sign indicates when it's save to go for a walk).
The Beachcombers house is a true oasis in the "Dutch Desert". It houses a smal museum with treasures found on the Vlieland beaches. But it's not just a regular museum. The whole sand area is flooded during north-west storms and spring tides. The Beachcombers house is the only save house in the area. So you know where to go if you ever get marooned at the Vliehors.
