Santpoort - Once upon a time, in the year 1282, the Lords of Brederode built a castle. Although the castle is still largely intact, it is a ruin. The original shape is still easily recognized.

The castle is in the course of time several times besieged and rebuilt. The last siege dating from 1573 when the Spaniards set fire to the castle. Since then the castle is a ruin.
