Ankeveen is located on the edge of Het Gooi. In winter, the village is known as an ice skating hotspot. Thanks to all the skating enthusiasts, Ankeveen bursts at the seams with all the skaters who come for a ride on the Ankeveens puddles. The rest of the year is quiet; ideal for a nice cycling or walking tour in the area. A nice walk is the one over the Dammerkade to the Spiegelplas and then back via the Bergse Pad. Also take a look at the Natuurmonumenten nature calendar; they occasionally organize boat trips through the nature reserve.
